Don’t know which neighborhood to stay in while visiting Rome?

A brief description of the 4 most popular areas to stay…..

Trastevere:

This neighborhood is quite popular. It’s in the heart of the city and is filled with narrow streets, a hopping nightlife and within walking distance to the major historical sites. From Termini, grab the H bus and in 15 minutes you’ll have arrived. Bohemian and picturesque, if you like being in the middle of the activity, this is the lively neighborhood for you!

Monti:

A very trendy and classy neighborhood. Narrow streets and loads of vintage shopping here! Look for the Monti Market and have fun thrifting high end labels. The Colosseum is nearby and the streets are lovely to wander. It’s virtually impossible to get lost because you can always find the Colosseum to help guide you around.

Prati:

Known as the ‘high-class” neighborhood where many white collar workers live. It is just outside of the touristic areas and more of a local’s scene. It borders the Vatican and you can visit the famous high end shopping street, Cola di Rienzo if you’re looking for Italian brands that are above and beyond. There are metro stations for easy access to the tourist areas of Rome or walk 20-30 minutes to reach them. If you like a quiet place to rest after your day adventuring about the city, this is the neighborhood for you!

Centro Storico:

The Historic Center neighborhood includes Piazza Navona and the Pantheon. It’s VERY busy because it’s at the heart of many of the historic sites which means it’s more expensive because it is the most convenient for tourists. The Trevi, Colosseum and Forum are all nearby. If you’re short on time and want easy access to everything but the Vatican, this is the neighborhood for you.

Of course there are other neighborhoods you can check out but these are my picks for making the most of your visit to Rome.
